The Vortigaunts didn't escape Xen via the portals to Earth. Slight justification to what Number Two described: Despite Gordon offing a number of them in Black Mesa, he destroyed Nihalinth in the end of the game thus saving the entire Vortiguant species, in the events of HL2 they have befriended humans and see Gordon as their "Masiah" for saving them all. In the panic and confusion they attacked other humans. I really did enjoy it.Originally posted by Number Two:In the events of HL1 during the resonance cascade the Vortigaunts saw the portals to earth as a way to escape from Nihalinth, a powerful being who was enslaving them in Xen. I cannot wait to see more of this developed. Perhaps (dare I say it) one or two more might have been nice, especially on the walk back. This is boring and it turns me off that map… Thankfully, this didn’t happen here and they became part of the game rather than ruining it. So many times a mapper has these beasts auto-spawning over and over. When I first saw the Antlions I admit that I groaned. But hey that’s the story and the path I chose. The house is … dark! And the ending I saw got me clobbered and I never got to explore it without that damn flashlight. I thought navigating through was always well designed. This was easy and it needed to be of course otherwise it wouldn’t have worked. I liked the start, hiding in the fog and waiting until they’d moved on. The tasks and how they were integrated into the game worked for me. The dialogue was done right and it was quite interesting too, i liked the options with possible different outcomes. I didn’t want to rate this as it’s not finished ofc but I must say how impressed I was. The Replay Experience Experiment aka TREE.Enslavement of Vortigaunts Demo | RTSL Menu
